THE CURRICULUM OF GETHSEMANE LUTHERAN SCHOOL

The curriculum of Gethsemane Lutheran School is based upon the curriculum guides for Lutheran Elementary Schools entitled, "Integrating the Faith", as well as the curriculum guides for elementary and middle schools in the state of Arizona. Gethsemane Lutheran School has a strong academic curriculum.

The following courses are offered:

  • Readiness Program in Kindergarten
  • Religion and Religion Memory Work
  • Printing and Cursive Writing
  • Reading (a phonetic and whole language based program)
  • Accelerated Reader Program for grades 1 - 8
  • Spelling
  • English Grammar and composition
  • Social Studies (including World, U.S. History, and Geography)
  • Arizona History
  • Mathematics (including Pre-Algebra and Algebra)
  • Science and Healthy Lifestyles
  • Music (Classroom, Choral and Band)
  • Art & Art Masterpieces
  • Physical Education/Life Sports (including swimming)
  • Computer Literacy and Computer Related Skills
  • Advanced Learning Systems (ALS) curriculum software for grades 2-8
  • Spanish at selected grade levels
  • Creative Writing
  • Gethsemane Lutheran School endeavors to offer a curriculum which will challenge the student's intellect. A complete listing of the scope and sequence, and objectives of the various curricular material used is available at the school office. Parents who would like further information about the curriculum should meet with the principal and the teacher of the appropriate grade.
