Student Council |
Middle School at Gethsemane Lutheran School starts in sixth grade and completes at eighth grade. Gethsemane is fortunate to have three excellent middle school teachers who have a lot of energy, and work to make school fun for students in this age group. The expectations are high, but not unrealistic for students who are willing to work hard. Students are expected to be creative with their projects, ideas and schoolwork.
The middle school teachers work to prepare their students for high school. Students have electives and change classes throughout the day. The schedule is full, but allows for study time, physical education, art, and music.

My Favorite Things to Do |
About Me I was born in Scottsdale, Arizona. I spent most of my life living in North Phoenix where I attended Christ Lutheran Elementary and Valley Lutheran High School. After graduating high school I moved to Wisconsin and attended Concordia University. I graduated with Bachelors in Lutheran Elementary Education with a Minor in Historical Studies. It was a huge blessing to have both my husband and I called back home to teach in Arizona.Since moving back home to Arizona I have taught five years as the 6th grade homeroom, and 6th-8th grade Literature teacher at Gethsemane Lutheran. I must admit that it is absolute blast teaching middle school students! I am also blessed to coach many of the sports teams such as girl’s softball, volleyball, and boys and girls track and field. In volleyball we have taken the League Championship for the past three years. These are huge accomplishments and the girls and I are thankful for the talents God has given them. Also during my “off season” I coach a girls’ club volleyball team. This past year we placed 4th in the Arizona Region! I am very excited about where the Lord is leading me. This year I look forward to beginning the enrollment process for classes to get my Masters in Family Studies. I will need a lot of prayers as this will take time and focus. |

About Me
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and attended Christ Lutheran School and graduated from Valley Lutheran High School. For college I opted to spend my summers in Phoenix and my winters in Wisconsin as I enrolled at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 6-12 Education and Social Studies in December of 2003, and married my high school sweetheart, Mrs. Amy Hoffman, the following June.
I enjoy traveling, reading, and relaxing with my wife and two tiny dogs.
My Classroom
I teach many things, but my focus in on the Social Studies. I teach World Geography, World History, and American History. Students in my classes can be prepared to work and get their hands "dirty" in the Social Studies, not just studying about people, places and events in the world, but experiencing how we do geography and history. I also teach New Testament, English, and a variety of electives, including Computers, Spanish, Latin, Research Writing, and Current Events.
It is my hope that every student's faith is brought to life and enhanced in my classroom.l

About Me
My Classes
Along with being the seventh grade home room teacher, which includes Old Testament, Life Science and English; I am the middle school Science teacher. I teach Sixth grade Earth Science and Eighth grade Physical Science. Each of my science classes is very project and lab oriented, engaging students to put into practice what they learned. In addition to science, I teach Economics, Government, Creative Writing and Health.
My Education Philosophy
School is not just a place of learning but also a place of growing. I believe it is my duty to raise responsible citizens and involved Christians. This can be achieved by engaging the students and challenging them to strive higher both academically and spiritually.
