09-01-09 Travel Brochure Guidelines for Third Grade

*The brochure is due September 8th.
*The goal of the brochure is to tell me why I should visit their community.
* I showed the kids three options for a trifold brochure-any of which are acceptable.
* The cover is to include the title of the community in which the student lives.
* I told the kids that a brochure has a full cover page with a big picture. I also said that they could draw the picture, cut it out of a magazine-internet, or they could go take a picture in front of city hall etc...
*They are to include a minimum of 3 historical facts about the city.  (suggested ideas were:  mayor, when it was founded)  Again, they should include pictures to go with it(same ways as mentioned are acceptable).
*They are to include some of the entertainment in their city...places to eat, go for fun, places to stay.(pictures:)pictures:))
*The final part is to include some kind of map...they could draw it themselves or print it out.

We have discussed in class that a community is a place where you live, work, and play.  Now they are illustrating this with a brochure:)
